Project: Domestic Violence PSA.
Role: Director, Producer, Editor.
Spanish Version:
The Challenge: Domestic violence is a global pandemic that is often hidden behind closed doors. The statistics are staggering; according to the CDC, it is the leading cause of injury to women, outpacing car accidents and muggings combined. The challenge was to create a visual message that breaks through the noise and addresses the reality that this crisis does not discriminate by race or class. We had to deliver a hard-hitting, professional PSA that could serve as both a wake-up call and a direct lifeline for victims in immediate need of help.
The Solution: I focused the creative direction on the universal nature of the issue to ensure the message resonated across every socio-economic boundary. By leading the production from the ground up, I ensured the tone remained respectful yet urgent. My goal was to move the audience from a state of awareness to a state of action. We integrated critical resource information for Haven Hills in Los Angeles and the National Domestic Violence Hotline directly into the narrative, ensuring that the film functioned as a practical tool for healing and intervention.
Deliverables: I directed and produced a high-impact PSA that successfully bridged the gap between raw human experience and essential public health resources. I managed the entire creative lifecycle; from conceptualizing the narrative to the final edit; and produced two distinct versions in both English and Spanish to ensure the message reached a diverse audience. The final result was a refined cinematic piece that provided a visceral proof of concept for the mission, complete with localized and nationwide crisis contact integration for immediate viewer support.
